I have dabbled in screenwriting for about ten years or so. It’s only been lately that I have begun to feel as if I could do something with it if I only had the right connections. I love Missouri, but it isn’t Hollywood. It would be kind of cool if Missouri, especially the St. Louis area became kind of a second Hollywood like Austin, Texas; Atlanta, GA; and a few others. I don’t think it will happen even though some films have been shot it Missouri recently. Most notably, Gone Girl, which was shot in my favorite town of all time Cape Girardeau, MO.
I have so many wonderful memories associated with Cape, and since it was the town where I went to college, some others that I would just as soon forget. It is a beautiful place, however, right along the Mississippi River.
At any rate, I did have a director who was looking for short scripts ask me to see a short screenplay I have written. The screenplay, Downhill from Here, is actually a kind of sequel to a middle grade novel that I once had published with a POD publisher. It didn’t go well there because the company had very little marketing strategies, unlike the people I am currently working with Booktrope. I’m hoping for a long, happy, mutually beneficial association with Booktrope. I know I will never get rich from my writing, but I do want to supplement my income when I retire. Perhaps, I can at least do this.
Keep watching out for Fall of Knight. I am unbelievably excited about the book. I wrote a screenplay that is very much like it. If the book does well, I would like it if I could somehow follow up with it being optioned. I think my publishing team would like that also.
Well, until later.
